Paul Carden
Paul Carden is executive director of The Centers for Apologetics Research (CFAR). He has devoted over 40 years to cult-related research and outreach in Latin America, east and southern Africa, eastern Europe, and the former Soviet Union. He spent 15 years serving at Walter Martin’s Christian Research Institute (CRI), including six years as a missionary in São Paulo, Brazil and six as co-host of the live, nationwide “Bible Answer Man” radio broadcast.
CFAR is a unique international network of evangelical cult research and education agencies. Simply stated, CFAR’s mission is rooted in Jesus’ “Great Commission” of Matthew 28, in which He commands us to disciple the nations. The task of discipleship includes bringing believers to spiritual maturity and unity, helping them to biblically discern between truth and error (Ephesians 4:14–16, Hebrews 5:11–14). While a number of ministries seek to fulfill this biblical mandate in North America, there are few in the so-called “majority world,” where many of today’s cultic movements are growing most rapidly and with the least resistance. It is this distinct need that CFAR was founded to address.
Paul is also the general editor for various apologetics-oriented resources produced by Rose Publishing/Tyndale, including the Christianity, Cults & Religions DVD series and World Religions Made Easy. His articles have appeared in a variety of missions and ministry publications. He and his wife, Lisa, reside in southern California and have been blessed with four children and four grandchildren.
